So focused on McCain's poor showing that I overlooked him. Newt was a "Write In" candidate and tied for Mitt Romney who was the only Presidential hopeful who sent any campaign literature.

Gingrich is quickly becoming the favorite darkhorse candidate. It seems entirely possible that he could be the last man standing as a Republican nominee - we could only be so lucky! Go Newt!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37877540.post-65453207101464991562007-02-18T15:36:00.001-05:002007-02-18T15:36:00.001-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12712163977315292252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37877540.post-37040322465463613792007-02-18T15:36:00.000-05:002007-02-18T15:36:00.000-05:00Redhorse --Rudy has this cachet -- he's seen as co...Redhorse --

Rudy has this cachet -- he's seen as competent and a straight talker.
McCain had it, appears to have lost it, and one wonders if he can get it back. That whole IT thing that matters so much in politics, the perception that somebody is genuine. Rudy will have big money in the GOP race and I sense he already may be on the verge of opening an insurmountable lead. There is a feeling that McCain blew it by skipping the Senate session. Bet we hear he starts to rethink staff, advisors, strategy in the next month.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12712163977315292252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37877540.post-72651241365830034122007-02-18T14:58:00.000-05:002007-02-18T14:58:00.000-05:00this is fascinating, really. The punditry loves to claim Guiliani can't win the nomination based on some of his social policy stances, yet he continues to poll well.

And now, he's won this straw poll. Moreover, Romney was second.

So...what did the voters base their decision on? Iraq, Guiliani's "America' Mayor" imagery, or, just what?Jason Haashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14581224941149292415noreply@blogger.com
