Ohio War Protestors Trial: Rummy May Be A Witness

CINCINNATI (TDB)-- A very big hat-tip to the Cincinnati Beacon, a blog that often scoops the local newspapers, for breaking important news about an effort to force former Defense Secretary Donald Rumseld to appear as a presumably hostile witness when several war protestors are tried in Ohio for disrupting U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot's office.

No doubt there will be a lot of litigation and legal maneuvering to block Rummy from ever appearing under subpoena. The criminal charges are misdemeanors. Chabot, R-Oh-01, has backed the War in Iraq. David Stockdale, the muny court judge who is presiding over the case, is a Republican and former law partner of Stanley J. Aronoff, the one-time Ohio Senate President who is now an influential Statehouse lobbyist.

Here's what the Beacon had to say. If Rumsfeld ever shows up, the scene at the Hamilton County courthouse would be historic and carried live on TV across the nation and probably the world.
