Almost 40 Years To The Day: Mitt Quits, Follows In His Dad's Footsteps

CINCINNATI (TDB) -- Mitt Romney suspends his presidential campaign. He stayed in 'til Feb. 7, 2008. Forty years ago, George Romney, his dad, announced his withdrawal from the GOP race on Feb. 28, 1968, a race that Richard Nixon went on to win. February is a tough month on the Romney family.

  1. That's an interesting historical point. It appears the Romney family is not meant to have Presidential aspirations.

The old man was quite a politician, and he raised questions about the Vietnam War; that LBJ was giving the USA a snow job. George Romney was ridiculed for saying words to that effect out lound, and he was pretty much driven out of the 1968 contest. I don't think Mitt Romney was quite as genuine an article as his father.
