CINCINNATI (TDB) -- An Air America talker's claim that liberal co-hoster Randi Rhodes was mugged and socked in the mouth by violent rightists while walking her dog in Manhattan has been dismissed as bogus. Rhodes has been ailing and temporarily off the air, but Jon Elliott appears to have lost touch with reality by speculating right-wingers beat her up.
The New York Daily News has reported that Talking Radio, a blog, quotes Eliott on the airwaves:
"Is this an attempt by the rightwing, hate machine to silence one of our own? Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we're winning. Are they trying to silence and intimidate us."
Nope, no conspiracy. She simply lost her footing. Turns out Rhodes' lawyer told police that she fell while strolling with her pet. The Daily News says she is not the victim of a hate crime, nor is there any indication Rhodes was targeted by rightist vigilantes.

Al Franken: Wonders About Being A Comic In The Senate
CINCINNATI (TDB) -- Al Franken, the comic-turned-AirAmerica talker, is thinking about running for the U.S. Senate from Minnesota and today The Associated Press offers more details. The best part of the story is Democrat Franken's line the electorate might not be prepared for the presence of a professional comedian in the Capital.
Al must have been kidding.
Read the story HERE. Some would say there have been more comedians in the Senate than in vaudeville, Hollywood, Broadway and stand-up clubs combined. There is a good Senate joke HERE.
