Hang On Elsie: Rap Music Invented In Pastoral Ohio In 1940s?

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (TDB) -- An 80-year-old musician in Springfield says he invented rap music before World War II by spouting rhymes as he herded his family's cows. Donewaiting.com has the Springfield newspaper's video that includes some of the hip hop-sounding lines that Joe "Jody" Parsley recorded decades ago.

Parsley's story about moo-sical inspiration seems to be going viral on the 'net today. He said the cows got into neighbor's fields. Parsley doesn't look like he ever got into the clover like Diddy.
