Q Is For Question: What Ohio City Starts With That Letter?

CINCINNATI (TDB) -- Erica at Young and Beautiful has made a list of Ohio cities from A to Z -- Ashtabula to Zanesville. But she's stumped and can't think of a town that starts with Q. Even here in the Queen City (nickname only) folks are drawing blanks. Any ideas? No fair looking on Google and Yahoo or etc. This is a test of Ohio-ology.

  1. QUINCEY -- Logan county SW of Bellefontaine

    QUAKER CITY -- Guernsey County

I believe both are incoporated villages (not cities)

  2. Hi Schmajo --

Did you know the answer? Or did you peek and Google?

  3. I thought of Quincy (though I didn't know the exact location).

I knew Quaker City (from an exit sign on I-70 east of Cambridge) but I didn't think of it.

Don't need no steekin' Google when ya got a state highway map.

  5. Hi John --

Good question. We used to look stuff up, call people, check Rand McNally, visit libraries. For a brief period of time we Yahooed.

I don't know how old you are, but for most of my life it was look stuff up, or call somebody.

  6. Me too, Bill. I'm also of an age where that was the norm for most of my life. In a way, I'm glad that I no longer get so many of those calls, from friends and colleagues who thought I could help them find the answer, either from the top of my head or by suggesting the right resource. So to that extent (and others of course), Google has been a real boon for me. But as you suggest, I think we also lose something if we only use Google. Sometimes, the best, most nuanced, answer is to be had by simply phoning the right person.
