Conservative Christian Newspaper Cautions Ohioans: Peter Cottontail And Mickey Mouse Are Dangerous Figures

CINCINNATI (TDB) -- The headline declares, "Take caution in teaching children about the Easter Bunny and other fanciful characters." Apparently, Peter Cottontail and fellow rodent Mickey Mouse have now landed somewhere on the threat scale with gay marriage and the dreaded homosexual agenda. Some might think it's a bad rap to hop on the Easter Bunny (check out the video). But there's concern that fairy tales and Disney cartoon characters can erode the Christian faith:

"How did we get to the point where Christian parents routinely teach their small children to believe in imaginary characters like the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and Mickey Mouse ?"

And:

"Perhaps it seems like a stretch to consider a small child's relationship with the above named characters as worship, so let's take a closer look. Most of these personae are described as having supernatural powers such as: delivering goodies to deserving children around the world in one night, having omniscience that allows them to know when a child has been bad or good, or that they have to put a tooth under the pillow that night . . . And if you have ever made a trip to one of the Disney parks you know that you are surrounded with images of an icon that has now reached generations, and like a Mecca, brings devotees in droves from around the world. Mickey is revered by tens of thousands of children in a way that should be reserved for God alone."

Praise to the tooth fairy !

All the Glory to Mickey !

They spark excitement, imagination, joy into the heart of our grand-girl !

Much more desirable than the hell-fire and brimstone that drives nails into equality with head covered servants !

  3. Children trust their parents/grandparents whole-heartedly. That's their world. I believe it is the adults responsibility to guide them to where their trust should be (in God). If the parents lie (by telling them it's real or by omission) to their child about Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy.. and then they are told about Jesus, how are they to decipher what is real and what's not? It's the parents responsibility to guide their child to God. Children are more awestricken with Disney characters and meeting Santa than who their respect and amazement should really be aimed at. I'm not saying shield them from everything but let them know the truth. It's irresponsible as a parent to lie to your child.
